Centered in the cover is a facsimile image of Caxton's device. Between his initials "W" and "C" is his merchant's mark, with a deep ornamental border at the top and bottom. Two small ornaments shaped like an "S" and "C" stand for Sancta Colon along the edges. Along the cover’s bottom is its title and editor. The METS logo in the bottom right corner is a rounded capital M surrounded by two leaves.
